Residents of Oluwo Abeokuta has decided not to vote in the 2023 general election due to poor electricity in their community which has affected their business and daily activities.
This was made known during a vox-pop interview by Press Club Mapoly (PCM) correspondent on Tuesday.
One of the residents, Mrs. Adeleke Adeola stated that, her frozen food business has been packed off due to poor power supply which made her loose interest in voting this 2023 presidential election.
She said “Am not voting in this year’s election because I don’t know the work of the government, see my frozen food business has been packed off due to poor power supply which is very tiring.
“It’s the frozen food business that am using to feed myself, so what did you expect me to do? To vote? No I can’t because I don’t see the work of the government”.
Furtherance, a student of Moshood Abiola polytechnic (MAPOLY) Taiwo Oluwabusayomi also accused the government for incompetency in their responsibility as a result of poor electricity in the community.
“The government are not doing their work, as a student I need electricity the most to charge my phone because students need their phone the most to work, but my phone has been off since yesterday no electricity to charge; is that the government I want to vote for” she stated.
An attendant of Bet9ja, Miss Oluwafumilayo Adekola said that the poor electricity has affected their business drastically and reduced their income.
“As a Bet9ja business there is nothing we can do without using electricity, but the lack of electricity has affected our business and income because when customers come here and there is no power supply to give them the service they needed” she said.
