The Management of MOSHOOD Abiola Polytechnic has announced the suspension of the 2018/19 students’ union election.
Speaking through the director of students’ affairs, Tpl. Luke the management said the suspension came in lieu of the absence of the Students’ Union Electoral committee (SULECO) chairman, Adeniji Olamilekan.
There was rancor earlier at the election ground as a sect of the electorate protested that the elections should not hold in the absence of the chairman just as a part time student (name withheld) was sent away from the election ground.
SULECO PRO, Olawale Omojola citing a section of the constitution said the chairman is not necessarily expected to be in sight before the election commences.
“…SULECO chairman should be in the control room before the announcement of the results”, he said.
Backing the PRO’s stand was a staff adviser, Lekan Togunwa who declared that the election will hold in the absence of the chairman.
He said that no one knows the whereabouts of the SULECO chairman.
“To be sincere with you, none of the SULECO members know the house of the chairman, no one knows. You have to portray yourselves orderly as the election will hold in his absence…”
The NANS/ JCC Ogun chairman, comrade Dhrikrullah Balogun who stormed the school in fury affirmed that the election cannot hold if the SULECO chairman is not available.
Some sect of students however, called for the commencement of the election claiming that the absence of the SULECO chairman is a planned work for the election not to hold.
All attempt to reach the SULECO chairman proved abortive as his contacts where not reachable and his whereabouts remained a myth as at the time of filing this report.
Campaigns such as #BringBackLekan,#WhereIsLekan have since been rocking the media space as some even instigated his death.
