Barely 48hours after the Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Chapter, Mr Kola Abiola, announced that the institution had joined the national strike, and organised team of students are set to embark on a social media protest.
The team of students, made up of major student-comrades in the institution, got the blessings of Mapoly students at large to lead a media protest with hastags #freemapaites #savemapoly.
The media protest would cover all social handles with major focus on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram.
In a release made available to Press Club Mapoly, the students expressed their bitterness towards the Ogun State Government, ASUP Mapoly and the School Management saying that the trio have shown no concern about the student’s welferism.
The release reads : "It is high time we told the world what we are facing as students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in the hands of Ogun state government, ASUP MAPOLY and the School management.
"Obviously, the trio has shown that they are not concerned about the welfare of the fifteen thousand students of the institution in the nonchalant attitude exhibited in recent times.
"It is pertinent for the whole world to know that a single academic session has run through three years (2017/2018/2019) which should run through two years.
"We will unveil more issues as time goes on and we hope this campaign brings about the change. If not….. Time will tell. #freemapaites_savemapoly"
