In response to the rumour on the postponement of the second semester examination 2017/2018 session, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Mapoly Chapter Chairman, Babatunde Osifalujo, has debunked the allegations reconfirming that the exams would hold on the slated date.
The chairman who spoke with Press Club Mapoly reassured the readiness of the lectures as well as the institution to conduct the second semester examination after its several postponement.
Recall the the institution had slated March 25 for the commencement of the second semester examination 2017/2018 session after its had earlier been postponed twice due to some ‘unaddressed’ internal crises.
Osifalujo said, "Like I have told you before, we as well as the school are prepared to start the exams on Monday. I am chairman for the sbms planning committee for examinations and I just concluded a meeting on the commencement of the second semester examination and would be part of the general meeting by the school on commencement of the examination and our preparedness towards it. So please debunk any rumour that says we aren’t holding the examination."
The rumour was hinged on that fact that some students in their respective departments are yet to complete their semester registrations as they are yet to see their results. This has allegedly led to a conclusion that the might resolve to move the exam date until all results issues have been addressed.
However, when PCM conducted a survey, its showed that 90% of students are gearing up for their examination.
Meanwhile, the chairman also noted, saying "I want to also debunk any rumour that says that lectures haven’t been going to classes. Despite my busy schedule, I was still in a class this morning. Recall that before the Polytechnic reconsidered to give the students a two weeks revision session, the school had on several occasions asked student to resume lectures which they didn’t.
"The school even made announcement through paid advert requesting for students to resume before it concluded to give another two weeks for revision of courses. So we are prepared to hold the semester, except the students says they aren’t writing."
He further urged all students to shun any form of exams malpractice saying, "the fact that they haven’t been avaliable for months now and are resuming back for exams should not be a licence to involve in any form of examination malpractices."
