Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY has called off its six weeks old strike.
Sequel to this, the management of the institution has announced Thursday 6th of June as resumption date for all academic activities in the institution.
This development, press Club MAPOLY (PCM) gathered, was a result of the Congresses held by the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) of the institution.
NASU and SSANIP had embarked on strike after the 2017/18 second semester examination over N635 million unpaid entitlements.
Recall that PCM had earlier reported a possibility of resumption after the staff unions held an emergency meeting last Thursday, a day after the inauguration of the new governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The meeting necessitated the Congresses held yesterday by the unions after which the strike was called off.
Announcing the resumption of academic activities, MAPOLY PRO, Yemi Ajibola in a statement disclosed that sales of admission forms for the 2018/19 academic session is still on.
He also urged admitted and returning students to proceed with their registrations immediately.
"Following the suspension of industrial action by the staff unions of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, the Management has announced the resumption of full academic activities with effect from Thursday, 6th June, 2019.
"By this development, lectures will begin for the 2018/2019 academic session on Thursday, 6th June, 2019 across all departments for new and returning students.
"Therefore, all newly admitted students for National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes,as well as returning students who are yet to complete their registrations, are to do so without further delay.
"Meanwhile, admission process for National Diploma and Higher National Diploma for 2018/2019 is still ongoing. Interested candidates should visit www.ogunpoly.edu.ng for National Diploma and www.mapoly.edu.ng for Higher National Diploma," the statement read.
On his own part, the MAPOLY Student’s Union President elect, Samson Omoniyi in a statement through the MAPSU PRO, Johnson Idowu urged students to get prepared to resume activities on Thursday 6 June as announced by the management.
