Management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Ojere Abeokuta has made moves to ensure peaceful co-existence with the Ogun State Police.
The management recently paid a visit to the Ogun police headquaters, Eleweran Abeokuta.
The rector said that the visit became necessary owing to the need to enhance peaceful co-existence and crime protection across the polytechnic students’ communities.
He added that it was to familiarize the institution with the Command and also to appreciate the force for the good job it has been doing in keeping the peace in the state, especially its tertiary institutions.
Dr. Odedina commended the force for the support it has continually offered the Polytechnic all through his period of leadership, especially Area Command Zone A, Adigbe and Ibara Divisional Police Stations, noting that the institution in its 40 years of existence conducted a free, fair and peaceful students union and other students’ body elections, attributing this milestone to the support of the police.
In his reaction, CP Bashir Makama, psc+ appreciated the management of the polytechnic for the visit, adding that working with tertiary institutions has taken a fore front of the Command’s peace keeping effort.
He noted that efforts are in top gear to maintain relative peace in the state, stating that daily night patrols in all institutions is being contemplated.
The CP added that efforts are in place to enable daily interface with students and management of tertiary institutions across the state.
He appealed to the institution to continuously work with the Command to ensure that the force delivers on its mandate.
The rector was in company of the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Adeleye; the Bursar, Mr. Yekinni Fatai and Acting Librarian, Alhaji Basirat Akintunde and Mr. Yemi Ajibola, Public Relations Officer.
