Exactly 9th week after the September 23rd resumption of second semester 2018/19 academic session, the management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic are yet to release an academic calendar.
There had been controversies as regards the resumption as some academic staff maintained that the resumption date for the semester was September 30th as against the date on the first semester calendar.
The second semester calendar which should have cleared doubts is not in sight.
There were speculations that the second semester exam should start on the 9th of December while the session is expected to end by December. This was backed by management and academic staff who kept telling students that the session will end by December.
Students blamed the snail pace academic activities as we’ll as scanty population on campus on absence of a schedule of academic activities for the semester.
While the wait for the academic calendar continues, there seem to be a twist in story as an unconfirmed information rented the media space claiming the exams have been rescheduled for 13th January, 2020.
The report whose source is unknown claimed that the SUG week is scheduled for 2nd-6th of December and is being broadcasted on social media.
One of the broadcasts with an ‘RCE!!!’ opening reads, "this is to inform you all that the second semester exam commence 13th, January 2020.
And the SuG week is 2nd – 6th Dec, 2019. I wish you all success ahead."
The school management has not issued a statement as regards academic calendar this semester.
Though, the MAPSU PRO, Johnson Idowu advised students to disregard such information, there has since been no clarification as to the source of the information or the release of an academic calendar to keep students abreast of activities for the rest of the semester.
All efforts to reach authorities of the institution proved abortive as at press time.
Hence, the calendar remains fake until stated otherwise.
