The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Ogun State Chapter, has awarded the rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Dr. Samson Odedina, as well as a final year student of the institution, Aminat Olaleye, for their exemplary actions in the public.
The institute awarded the duo alongside others in a one day colloquium tagged – ‘strengthening the Nigeria’s institution :PR Dimensions’
Odedina added to his array of awards having impressed the NIPR with his leadership acumen and excellent administration of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
His award by the institute is coming after bagging several awards from different associations and institutions across the state and beyond.
Aminat Olaleye, an Hnd2 student of Accountancy department, MAPOLY was awarded for returning the sum of N20,000 she found somewhere on campus.
Her integrity had caught the attention of other stakeholders, thus, raking in several rewards which included a scholarship by MAPOLY and an integrity award by an NGO in Ogun.
At the NIPR colloquium, Aminat went away with about #100,000 and a promised employment.
In his address, the chapter chairman, Lekan Togunwa, said the awards are meant to recognise members of the public who have distinguished themselves.
"We would most honourably recognize a number of people who have distinguished themselves in line of duties. We are doing this as members of the watchdog group in the country, having understood that the right acts by individual member of the public are all we need to revive our comatose public and national values as a country.
"To this end, Ogun NIPR will be awarding amongst others Comptroller Agbara Micheal, the Area Controller, Nigerian Customs Service Ogun State Command; Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Dr. Samson Odedina; Mr. Deinde Boye of Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC); Dr. Samuel Olalekan Odunsi; Mrs. Iyabode Aderonke Oniyide; Mr. Adekoya Mayowa Jacob and Miss. Aminat Olaleye."
The occasion which gathered respective practitioners and students of the Mapoly, was targeted at advocating for stronger institutions, independent enough to discharge responsibilities towards the development of the country.
