The Acting Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic,Dr. Adeoye Odedeji has urged the institution’s engineering students to remain resolute and committed to hard-work and innovation in order to attain greater heights in the profession.
Odedeji gave the charge while addressing the students at the exhibition of project works to mark the 2020 World Engineering Day on Wednesday.
The acting rector noted that best infrastructures have been put in place to enable them accomplish their stated goals.
He admonished the students to key into the opportunity they have been given,be serious minded and avoid distractions.
“Our prayer is that in the next ten years some of you will become innovators.That is why we have put everything in place to ensure your goal are met.
“I want to appeal to you that this is a lifetime opportunity that you have,embrace it and do away with other things that could distract your attention.
“We have lost that opoortunity but don’t allow that opportunity to be lost start with new innovations that the new generations to come will be reffering to you.
“This phase of your life is very critical,it is either you remain the same or come down but our prayer is that you move from glory to glory.”
Odedeji also urged the students to be determined and to be discouraged.
He called on the students to ensure that they pay their school fee on time and avoid spending their money on frivolous things.
He also implored them to make use of indigenous knowledge to create employment opportunities.
“Let’s build on indigenous knowledge and add conventional knowledge to it so that we can create employment opportunities for people out there.
Odedeji urged the lectures to collaborate with the centre for research development as well follow trends and ensure increase in innovations.
He encouraged them to motivate and put more efforts into delivering the best for the students.
The Engineering lecturer in charge of the exhibition,Dr Oluyide thanked the acting rector for his fatherly advice and wish him a successful tenure.
