A former Student Union President of Moshood Abiola polytechnic,Comrade Rasaq Owoiya A.k.A Owomummy,has appealed to the management to reconsider it’s decision on the suspended Students Union Government election.
Owomummy made the appeal on Thursday in a six paragraph letter obtained by Press Club Mapoly written to the office of the Ag. rector of the institution through the Directorate of Students’ affairs.
Earlier,Press Club Mapoly had reported that the election was suspended by the management of the Polytechnic last year.
Owomummy who was the SUG president of the institution during the 2017/2018 academic session said an institution without a Student’s Union is open to daylight robbbery pleading with the management to allow the suspended election be completed by the Students Union Electoral Committee (SULECO).
“I am appealing as one time leader that the suspended election should be completed in an electroneering way by Students Union Electoral Committee(SULECO).”
The former Students Union President stated that it is undeniable that the Polytechnic remains one of the leading institutions.
He also said the polytechnic is well known for its leadership skills saying it has provided quite number of leaders who are topnotch in the society.
He added that the suspension of SUG activities will give room for unscrupulous acts in the Polytechnic and also accommodate all sort of activities that are not ethical,citing his tenure as a typical example.
The letter reads “The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has always been a proactive,positive, conservative, productive and active in student relationship management and building of students in its relative market institute.
“As a former student union president served at the most sensitive period Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, i am writing to your office as the Acting Rector appealing and advising you sir on student union election suspended which should have bred a new set of student leader/activist.
“An institution without Student Union body in Nigeria is open to daylight robbbery and danger from opperessor of any form without saying much sir 2017 to 2019 an experience.I think we all should never forget in MAPOLY.
“The election which is expected to give birth to new set of mordern unionist who can serve as security,ideologist and part of development in any
set of developmental of the school management”.
