Students of Mass Communication, National Diploma (ND) One have won the first edition of Hult Prize MAPOLY on Campus Competition.
The first ever Hult Prize MAPOLY On Campus finals was held on Friday on Zoom as five teams Unveiled their innovative ideas solving the pressing food challenge pitching their idea to panel judges
Team Achievers which consist of Adaradenu Mistura, Blessing Idowu and Amongbonjaye Adeola Rosemary emerged the winner after pitching and defending their ideas.
Team DOJ which consists students from Mass Communication ND one Popoola Jumoke, John Deborah and Fadairo Omolara emerged first runner up
While Team Topzy Grills of Statistical Department, Adejumobi Oluwafemi, Olusanjo Oluwatoyin and Idowu Joseph emerged Second runner up,
Reacting after the success of the On Campus competition Hult Prize MAPOLY Campus Director, Fasilat Oluwuyi said she is happy to see students of MAPOLY embraced the social entrepreneurship competition.
According to her, "It’s gives me great joy to finally see us having a successful Hult Prize On Campus Event in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta a virtual one at that despite the challenges I as a pioneering Campus Director and my organizing committee members encountered but all thanks to God for making the event a reality.
"In leading a generation to change the world, I am delighted to see students of the institution embracing the global hult Prize social entrepreneurship competion coming up with their startup ideas towards profering solutions to the Hult Prize Challenge of food as hunger and malnutrition ravages in the World despite the fact that the competition is in MAPOLY for the first time.
"Kudos to all the competing teams who participated in the competition. For those who didn’t win don’t get disappointed as everyone who pitched today is a winner.
She also congratulate the hard work of all teams and applauded the winner adding that she wished them success in the regional competition
According to her," I’ll like to congratulate our first Hult Prize winners Team Achievers for their hardwork and also the first runner up team D.O.J and the second runner up team Topzy Grills for their efforts.
"I wish the Achievers greater success at the regionals where they will be competing with other winning teams in Nigeria campuses in March.
"Though there’s still a need for them and all our competing teams to brush up their presentations I am confident that they will excel and make MAPOLY proud at the regionals and beyond where they will move to compete for the $1m USD prize.
"I appreciate my organizing committee members for all their efforts towards making this event a success. To all our judges, trainers, advisers, mentors and partners I sincerely appreciate their support and guidance.
"Also, I’ll like to call for support from individuals, business owners, Alumni’s, philanthropist to support the winning teams idea in our institution with prizes so as to encourage them to work harder as this will also move other students to participate fully in the subsequent Hult Prize MAPOLY On Campus competion. While we have set the pace for the Hult Prize in MAPOLY it is my prayer that the next On Campus event in the institution will be a greater one". She said
Meanwhile, Team achievers will represent MAPOLY at the Zonal finals in Calabar later this year.
