The Management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta has issued a note of warning to aspirants to desist from illegal publicity and campaign ahead of the upcoming Students’ Union election which date has not been announced yet to the general public.
Director of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Olusegun Anikan gave the warning to the aspirants during an interview with PRESS CLUB MAPOLY on Monday.
The Director warned prospective students vying for their desired posts on campus to caution the habit of illegal electoral activities such as campaign banners, stickers and unnecessary publicity which have flooded all areas on campus.
Anikan stated that the management frowns at the act as illegal adding that aspirant caught will be disqualified.
He said," Posting of campaign posters all over the campus is illegal, anybody found with evidence will be disqualified.
"Aspirants are not doing the right thing, and they are violating the laws of the Polytechnic by posting campaign banners and stickers everywhere on campus.
"The laws are there, I have talked to them, advised them. It is anarchy if anything happens. The management has said that anybody caught will be disqualified"
The DSA also noted that the aspirants should check the law of the Polytechnic concerning the SUG election which is against the aspirant’s activities.
" I am a man of discipline, as a union man and I like people who abide by the law, I hate indiscipline, I like people that respect the law, I like anything lawful, the law is there, the aspirants can check it."
"Most of them have not even obtained form and they have been posting over everywhere."
"The law is there, they should check it". DSA added.
It is no more news that the last SUG election was cancelled due to some alleged electoral irregularities.
