The Junior Chamber International, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic on Wednesday organized a training on Menstrual Hygiene for students of Abeokuta Girls Grammar School (A.G.G.S).
The training which was held at the A.G.G.S premises recorded over 500 female students in attendance.
The President of JCI MAPOLY, Ogunlana Matthew told Press Club MAPOLY that the programme was to enlighten and educate the students on menstruation.
He said the programme was effective in the environment it was held because most of the students don’t know what they call menstruation and the guidelines to follow while on their menstrual period.
He said, "We look forward to the rural areas so that they can also be enlightened about menstruation. This particular program is essential here because they are young and don’t have the experience of menstruation yet."
Reacting to the program, the Vice President of A.G.G.S, Adegbite Olubumi Kehinde remarked that the programme was a good one because most of the students have started their menstrual cycle, adding that with the aid of the lecture received, they have a better knowledge about menstruation.
She said, "This is a good initiative and I want you people to continue the good work."
Meanwhile, the Health Prefect, Idubiyi Annika who is in JSS3 said JCI has given them more knowledge about menstruation, how to use the pad and also safety measures to follow.
She said, "I will like to say a big thank you to JCI for organizing a programme like this."
