Not to be counted as a deep-down sadist, every Nigerian President, both past and present, will always call the shots for marking the pseudo-achievements of what makes the ranking egos of many average Nigerians under-enjoy the dividends of the nascent democracy she, Nigeria, practices.
We remember October 1st, yet far from happily rejoicing that Nigeria is striding towards world-shaking maturity. That, axiomatically, betrothes me to the school of thought that says “Age is no maturity”, and that maturity is best achieved via paving ways to a deluge of well-thoughtabout actions. Yes! But do our actions match toward what really matters? Things such as the basic four E’s: Enforcement, Exemplary Leadership, Education and Empowerment.
That is to say the nature of the present Nigeria compared to the abject and outright disinterest of people’s opinions are isomorphic. Honestly, remembering this fateful and remarkable day does throw us into a crying thought and a question that asks that “can things really be concentratively done in the sole interest of the people?”
However, can this in the above be the song we will be singing forever? The song has been sung to the level of comatose. It has been waiting for a reform in its narratives. Having a remix of the reminiscences is the next thing we all Nigerians should be envisaging at this stage.
Now, this juncture will take us to self-questioning ourselves that: “What would be our developing contributions to the song of this country’s national development?
Undoubtedly, the Independence given to Nigeria is for all Nigerians. Therefore, have we, for once, used the privilege of being autonomous to drive ourselves out of the shackles of gullibility and ill-fated dependency on some shrinking and dilapidating pillars both economically and politically?
In fact, some people don’t know that they have, in their fists and palms, glorious strategies and liberating ideas that would call fames, wealths and eternal dignitaries and dignities on their mandates. We do not need again, at this stage, the philosophy that says we are what we are because Nigeria is what it is today.
Nigeria is independent, so you are! Use your independence to polish your paths and light up others who are still in bondages. Be seen as an igniting force!
No doubt, we are in this already, but then, we can change the tales and command optimistic alterations in every facet of this bright country to our favor using our youthful ( young ones) and experienced (aged) know-hows.
Since, you and I know full well that we can only reminisce about the past to analyze the umpteen deeds that had been done, awakening need to progress rather than retrogress to the past paths of our leaders of then. Good! so let’s make that our next.
Let’s have one another singing the song of progression, doing that to change the narratives by arming ourselves with principles of personal leadership traits and personally using resolve and determination to be genuinely educated as such would bring about pure and substantial liberation.
Be an exemplary leader to every one around you. It should start from there. Nigeria, some day, will know genuine and sustainable development through these.
Let us begin to remember October 1st for something worthwhile and forthcoming.
