SUG CUP: Mech.Eng edge out SLT as Marketing, Banking and Finance pick up wins

The Department of Mechanical Engineering on Thursday defeated Science and Laboratory Technology (SLT) on Day 2 of the sixth match of the SUG Cup at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Sports Complex.

Mechanical Engineering won the match by one goal to nil after missing several chances to score in the first half.

Two goals from SLT department were ruled out for offside.

Reacting after the game, Mechanical Engineering coach, Tolulope Falade said that he was happy, showering praises on his players.

He also promised his department that they will do well in their next match.

“I am very excited, as in very very excited because my team won. My department, Mechanical Engineering won, and my boys really did well in the game and I encourage them to do well,” Falade said.

Meanwhile, the department of Science and Laboratory Technology coach, Temitope Taiwo said that the match was tough.

He commended his boys for a job well done, and promised to make changes in the next game.

“Though we really played well, but in a game, coming out with a draw, win or lose is inevitable, ” Taiwo said.

“My boys really tried. Though we made a lot of mistakes, but we will know how to correct them. Next match, we will put more effort,” he added.

“The first offside was not offside. I can’t say about the rest. However, I still can’t say the referee was bias. Nobody is perfect. Even the professionals are not perfect, they make mistakes,” Taiwo said.

In the other matches on Day 2, Electrical Engineering played a score draw with Survey and Geo Information while Marketing defeated Building Technology 3-1, and Banking and Finance beat Quantity Survey 2-1.

On matchday three, Business administration will square up against Food and Science Technology, Pharmaceutical Technology will battle Accountancy, Office Technology Management will clash with Estate Management while Civil Engineering will lock horns with Mass Communication.
