Hakeem Ridwan a.k.a Rio has been elected as the president of the Association of Mass Communication students for the 2021/2022 academic session.
Rio pulled 393 votes, pipping his opponent, Olaniyi Johnson (OlaJay) who had 370 votes to the post of the President.
The election which was the first ever e-Election in the history of the department held today in the department, starting by 11am and ending by 4pm with all candidates and their agents present.
According to the Association of Mass Communication Electoral Commission (AMEC) Chairman, Ridwan Azeez, there were 915 electorates accredited with 800 voting on the day.
Others elected are: Agah Bartholomew (Federal) as the Vice President 1, Adeleye Michael (Crownboy) as the Vice President 2, Yusuf Rashidat (Enny) as Treasurer, Adebayo Rebecca (Becca) as General Secretary, Folarin Olukoyejo (Kote) as Assistant General Secretary, Oyeniran Kehinde (Kenny) as P.R O, Adejumo Samuel (SammyBerry) as Deputy P.R.O, Oseni Endurance (Annie) as Financial Secretary and Atanda Adeshina (Pellet) as Sports Director.
The list continues: Osanyinjobi Ezekiel (Shaggi) as Social Director, Ambali Oyinkansola (HoneyDrop) as Librarian, Obasuyi Boluwatife (Violet) as Deputy Librarian and Isaac Blessing (BB) emerging as Welfare Director.
The result was announced by the AMEC Chairman with agents of each candidate attesting to it being free and fair.
For RIO to emerge, I fully support the e- voting being free and fair.
To be candid, I was shocked when I heard that OLA- JAY lose.
