Students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) have lamented the hike in SUG due rising from N700 to N900.
In a press release signed by the SUG President on Tuesday, Comr. Sodiq Damilola Ajani (OPTIMUM), it was contained therein alongside the official launching of the new registration portal for students that the due has taken an increase.
It was later gathered that the due took the increase due to maintenance cost of the website.
Reacting to this, students of the institution have expressed their discomfort with the increase.
An ND2 student of Mass Communication department, Dewale commended the SUG for the new portal, but said that the due for maintenance is much.
He said, "I’m saying it’s a good project. I give them accolades for that because you can easily make payment online even in your room without the stress of going to MAPOLY micro finance, stress of collecting receipt. Even at microfinance, those women will tell you to wait they want to eat or tell you your money is bad.
"The maintenance fee of N200 is the main problem, it’s too much."
The President of Association of Mass Communication Students (AMACOS), Kayode Hakeem also lamented the hike in due, demanding for a decrease.
He said, "I commend the SU executives for their efforts and achievement towards the stress fee Student Union due payment by introducing the online payment.
"However, there is a clause to this as I feel that the #200 maintenance fee is quite high, and I want to implore the executives to look into it."
In the same vein, a student of Mass communication, Comr.Cyborg urged students not to be in a haste in paying the due.
