The chairman of Shuttle drivers of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Mr. Adesanya Adeshina has urged the students to comply with the increase in transportation fees from N50 to N80.
Mr. Adesanya has appealed to the student union government and stakeholders of the school to plead with the students to accept the increase in transportation fees while stating the reasons for the hike.
The appeal was made in the meeting held by the student union government at the SUG chamber with stakeholders of the school and the chairman of the Shuttle drivers Association.
Adesanya gave reasons for the hike stating how the road and increase in the price of fuel contributed to the hike.
"The economy is not encouraging, and the fuel is scarce which bring about a hike in fuel price, also everybody knows the road is bad, we were also student, and we understand, but this time around, we are appealing to the student union government. Once we can get a better result from here, the school authority will not be against it, that’s why we are appealing to you all on behalf of the chairman and the organization to kindly look into the increase. He said.
"We will carry two passengers for N150. Those that have changed should pay N70 per person and those without change, pay N80 and the reason is that N10 is now scarce." He explained
He pleaded with the students to not take the law into their hands in dealing with drivers that refuse to adhere to the proposed price.
"Where I want to put my feet down is, any driver that refuses to give 20 naira change, please don’t harass or abuse him, just take note of the plate number of the vehicle we will be responsible for that" Adesanya pleaded.
He promised that if the economy is better and the road is good, the fee will go back to its initial price which is N50.
"I promise that if the road is good and the economy is fair the transportation fee will go back to its normal price," he stated.
