The Association of Mass Communication Electoral Committee, (AMEC) today, has canceled the online election over some irregularities, stating that the results are indefinite
The election process supervised by AMEC started at noon at the school Secretariat and was scheduled to end by 5 pm
According to AMEC, the number of students who were accredited is lesser than the number of students who voted, which means there has been a manipulation.
Press Club MAPOLY observed that there were a lot of irregularities in the process from accreditation to voting stages, adding that at exactly 3.30 pm the number of accredited voters was 709, and the votes were 717 which means there was an increase in votes than the numbers of accredited voters.
In the same vain around 3: 48pm, the accredited voters Increased to a total number of 723 and votes of 936 while the total vote for the presidential aspirants was 851 by accumulation.
Speaking with the Head of the department, Lekan Togunwa, who stated that the online election was supposed to be the simplest way of voting, but it turned out to be the other way round.
"He said, this election is not free and fair, we believe voting should be the simplest way of voting but instead we found the other way round.
"Some of your colleagues have gone backward to inject the result of the election for the benefit of their choice of candidates, so we will have to cancel this election and get back to you later." He stated.
