Mr. Yemi Ajibola, The Public Relations Officer of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has said that the exam would start on Tuesday as scheduled.
Mr. Ajibola said this on Sunday in an interview with Press Club MAPOLY reporter, stating that, “according to the official and approved calendar, the exams still hold on 11th, October 2022.”
This was after a press statement, released by supposed Concerned Students titled “Exam May Not Hold If MAPSU Do Not Take Charge.”
The PRO in his statement affirmed that the exam is still holding as scheduled, as he urged students to disregard any release.
The Concerned Students had in the press statement demands, asked the school management to withdraw all sudden hikes in the miscellaneous fees.
The MAPOLY Student Union has also reacted to the release as it stated that “it is doing everything legally possible to prevail on the school Management to remove the egregious #20,000 Fee.”
It reads”We want to state explicitly that the Student Union is doing everything legally possible to prevail on the school Management to remove the egregious N20,000 “Registration fee”. We are currently having dialogues with the School Management.
“The Interest of MAPOLY Students is our primary concern. This is why we’re voted into the office and we shall continue to uphold and promote the welfare of students.’
MAPSU however urged students not to stage any protest as it emphasized that” It is not in our best interest.”
It reads, “However, we want Mapaites to know that boycotting exams or staging any form of demonstrations against the second-semester examinations at this CRITICAL TIME is not in our best interest. To truncate our progress because of an increase in fees for candidates who are yet to become students will be quite unwise.
” It is not in our best interest to delay our Academic Journey for a cause that requires only our solidarity. The fight against exorbitant fees is a continuous matter.”
The SUG, therefore, urged students to maintain calmness as the examination commences and while the negotiation continues.
