Ridwan Oluwasegun, an Nd1 student of Art and Industrial Design, has bagged an international scholarship worth one thousand US Dollars.
Oluwasegun, in April 2021, participated in a program that was introduced by Mr.Ade Adeyemi, an alumnus of the polytechnic to all students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
Mr. Adeyemi, who was the initiator of the project tagged Project 55 Africa explained that the project is a Driven Trading Academy platform that teaches people how to trade online with offers of a scholarship sponsorship worth $1000 to driven Academy.
He also explained that the project was aimed at transforming and eradicating poverty in Africa by transferring the benefits from one person to another.
According to the initiator, Oluwasegun went through rigorous training and screening before he emerged as the winner as he was the facilitator of his team where he trained and supervised not ine other members for 12 weeks.
Reacting after the win, Oluwasegun promised to incorporate more MAPOLY students to be part of the project.
He added that he is ready to guide and mentor more students through the process of the training.
He said, “This project is launched here in MAPOLY for mass participation of students, but it failed, maybe due to lack of belief or maybe people wanted to see results first.”
“But I have gone through this and I know the mission and vision of this project. So, maybe if students see results now and they’re ready to join the movement. Then I’m ready to guide them through the process for this opportunity to get to many as well”. He stated.
The school Public Relations Officer, Mr. Yemi Ajibola, also confirmed the success, stating that Oluwasegun is determined to be successful.
He said, “The project was brought to the polytechnic by an alumnus. When the man came, he brought project Africa 55 which was done in the polytechnic some months ago, I think around April. It was a huge success and a welcome development. he throws a challenge to students even staff who are interested in joining the group.
“The boy, ND1students showed interest in his group, he almost became the facilitator and in the end, he won a $1000 scholarship. It is very commendable. He has promised to make sure he incorporates many students into the program, I think it is a good one. ”
“The guy has been a self-sponsored student, an ND1 student who was determined to succeed, and eventually he won a $1000 scholarship.” He said.
However, he said the program “Is meant for all students. It was a free thing, students were invited and those who showed interest participated. It was not restricted to any students or any class or any group. It was open.”
He also added that another person from Abuja won another $1000 scholarship.
