The Students union president of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Adelola Hezekiel Babatunde has stated that 5 Mapoly Mocopolo (Economy) will begin work with immediate effect.
He disclosed this during a joint meeting that was held at the student union chamber which involved all students union leaders, departmental presidents and the SRC.
Speaking on transportation, The Student Union President, Adeola Hezekiah Babatunde spoke with the shuttle chairman last week about the proposed amount of #80 for a student and #150 for two students with an agreement to laise with the filling station to allow the shuttle drivers buy fuels without queuing on behalf of the students which was acknowledged .
“Now they are buying the fuel without queuing and they still insisted on conveying the student for #100 whereas our agreement before now is that if only we can help them talk to the filling station and we have done that for them because our stand is not to eradicate the shuttle drivers but there is something going on, those cab man are of the opinion that they want to increase their own price as well to #150, If the shuttle drivers is given an opportunity to carry student #100, the cab drivers we also want to collect #150. and as we all know that cabs drivers are only carrying 5 passengers whereas the shuttle drivers carry 18 passengers.
Speaking further, unfortunately while standing at Panseke on Monday, we saw some students begging the shuttle drivers to carry them like that ‘even if it is #150, ‘carry us like that we are going to pay you’. it is also those students that came here to reported that shuttle drivers are carrying them for #100. Which lead to immediate action of the students union staying at the school gate challenging shuttle drivers that carry student with #100.
The SUG President however urged all unionist to stand on this decision because if they failed on this the management may also come with some policy agenda and they will succeed if this is not properly taken well.
“We pleaded with the shuttle driver enough to help the students, that we understand the fact that it’s a time of election that’s the reason behind the increment of fuel and everything. we whereas and if peradventure the fuel price doesn’t go back to the normal price after the election then carry on with #100 for shuttles because in business it’s not every day you gain but somehow balance everything to gather” he added.
