Management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has warned newly-admitted students for the 2016/17 to steer clear from the all forms of misconduct during their stay on campus.
The misconducts include indecent dressing, violence, examination malpractices, cultism among others.
The management made this known on Thursday during the 2016/17 Orientation for fresh students of the School of Communication and Information Technology (SCIT) and students on Part-time and Diploma programmes
Polytechnic lawyer, Rasaq Ojo revealed that the institution through the Directorate of Students’ Affairs has seized more than a thousand indecent Jean trousers worn by students.
“Most males are guilty of this. We have more than a thousand tattered jeans at the Directorate of Students’ Affairs.
“You don’t come to examination halls with jottings no matter how small, it attracts four-semester suspension.
“If you bring phones to the examination halls, it attracts two-semester suspension. Exchange of answer booklet during examinations attract two-semester suspension,” Ojo who jokingly addressed the polytechnic as university several times said.
It should be noted that the bill seeking to convert MAPOLY to a university of science and technology and passed by the Ogun State House of Assembly on Tuesday is awaiting the governor’s assent.
Ojo also said fighting, impersonation, and illegal possession of weapons are not allowed on campus warning that they attract expulsion.
While welcoming the students on behalf of the management, he told them the matriculation date has been postponed till February 16th.
He however urged the students to visit his office whenever their individual rights are being violated.
Polytechnic Counsellor, Rotimi Olukoya warned the students on the implications of cultism. He also warned them not to join any cult groups on campus.
Polytechnic Librarian, Basirat Akintunde who was represented by an official of the library unit advised the students on the usefulness of the library and how to use it in order to become good and vibrant students.
An official of the Maintenance Unit, Mr Alade enjoined the students not to destroy the polytechnic facilities and to keep the school environment clean and tidy always.
The programme which is the last round of the orientation ceremony was attended by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), A.A Oyefesobi; Director and Sub-dean, Centre for Part-time and Diploma Programmes, Usamotu Adeniji and George Diyaolu respectively; Director, School of Communication and Information Technology represented by the Sub-dean of the school, Lekan Oketokun; Head, Department of Mass Communication, Kolawole Amos, his counterparts from the Department of Office Technology & Management and Department of General Studies among others.
