The President of the Association of Mass Communication Students (AMACOS), Alimot Akorede stated that the Departmental ID card is compulsory for every students of Mass communication.
This statement was made during an interview with one of our correspondents on Tuesday.
She maintained that the students are expected to pay the sum of N1000 for the ID card to the departmental account payment due to the cashless policy that the country is operating.
In her words: “This is in partnership between the department and the association, the press ID card is suppose to be paid to the departmental account in cash but now that you are facing a cashless policy and AMACOS is operating on transfer you can actually pay without cash , It is the Departments Project and there is no way the departments will want to do something without the approval of the HOD.
”Considering the state of insecurity and also in a department where you need a means of identification to get access to information, but we discovered that any ministry or agency with information we need can only give us access to people that are identifiable, as a student of the press you can only identify yourself with an ID card linked with the press and which is the Press ID card, that is the reason why we are making ID card for our student to make it easier for them to go the field and also help serve as a means of identification anywhere.
She continued,” To avoid harassment and gaining access to Information in this field, the ID card is not a thing of choice but compulsory for every students of Mass Communication. because it is their means of identification”.
