The Association of Business Administration and Management Studies (NABAMS) held its annual orientation program sensitization.
The program which marks the formal commencement of their academic pursuit was organized to keep them abreast of the information required to succeed as students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic while also acquainting them with the department and the Institution’s mission, objectives, core values, rules, and regulations.
On Wednesday, 17th May, 023, the program was strictly held for HND I and ND II students, in which only those students who had their ID cards or clearance receipts were allowed to enter the venue.
The orientation had in attendance of the DSA and his entourage, the HOD of Marketing, HOD of Banking, and Finance, the Director of students affairs SBMS, the Students’ Union President, and other notable lecturers graced the occasion.
The Dean of Students Affairs (DSA) Dr. Kolawole Amos, in his open remark, recognized the sub-dean, the school officer, Mr. Odeyemi, and also acknowledged the presence of the prestigious students who fondly call him “Baba Ewe”.
The DSA in his words asked the student if they enjoy his activities on campus but the students chorused ‘No’.
He asked the student to mention what they didn’t like about what he had been doing on campus, and the DSA received different answers like collecting their slippers, not allowing them to plait colored hair, etc.
Dr. Kolawole Amos responded as a reasonable father, that that is the way he trained his children at home and the essence of this discipline is to reform the students.
He advised the students that they should take note of this important thing; when a change is being introduced it comes in pain, and if there is no pain they won’t gain.
He said, “We are helping you to remold your future.
“The way you dress will determine the way people will, address you.
He concluded his speech by appreciating the students for their understanding, and he sounded a note warning that any student who was caught wrongly would invoke the wrath of war.
The Head of the Department of Marketing, Dr. Oba Abimbola Aina David also addressed the students.
He began his speech with a brief history of the department when the school was formed in January 1979.
He mentioned the name of some students who had graduated from this great institution, personalities like Pastor Ayo Aderohunmu(Mr. White), Mr. Felix, Mr. Kareem, Mr. Ademola, etc.
He revealed that the semester is now 6 months in 2 years program according to the school’s calendar.
The HOD ended by imploring the students to be a good ambassadors.
The director of student affairs at SBMS buttresses the DSA point that ‘We tag you as our children’.
She said the students should be of good conduct and they shouldn’t be the ones found guilty of any bad behaviors.
She ended her speech by notifying the DJ to tune in to a song sung by Tope Alabi ‘Roti omo eni ti iwo nse’ which simply means to remember the son of whom you are.
