The chairman of the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Wale Olanrewaju expresses his dismay over the death of the late communicator, Professor Lai Oso.
He made this known during an interview with MAPOLYPress, on Wednesday at a tribute held in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
The former student of the deceased discloses that Prof. Lai Oso is a book that we cannot judge by its cover and his death is like setting a library ablaze.
“It is quite painful and tragic of such death among us, especially now that everyone is looking up to Prof. for guidance and his wise counsel, which he offers freely irrespective of wherever and whatever situation we find him.”
He further stated that the man was a great man who never natured the anger of Vendetta to treat his student.
According to the chairman, he said “I was one of his very radical students and when he was the deputy rector, I was the president then and he use to engage us intellectually at the point of negotiations at the council chambers.
“He was a very supportive leader and teacher, who was ready to see you grow and great in life.”
Olanrewaju reveals the plan of the union to rename its newsroom in Ogun state after the late erudite scholar so that the coming generation will know that he has come and he had deposited his knowledge.
“70% of the Ogun state Journalists passed through Prof. Lai Oso’s tutelage, many commissioners, and others.” He added.
