Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Students’ Union Government has decided to embark on a peaceful protest on Monday in response to the management’s negligence towards student demands.
This was contained in a letter issued by the Students’ Union, on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
The union had previously given the management a 24-hour ultimatum to address issues concerning acceptance fee hikes, lecture shortages, and result delays on Wednesday, October 5, 2023.
The union revealed that there was no communication from the management after the deadline had passed till the time the statement was released.
“On Wednesday, October 5, 2023, an ultimatum of 24hours was issued to the management to address the issue that was highlighted as well as return the acceptance fee to status quo but unfortunately no communication was made from the time it elapsed and till this moment.”
In the letter, the union emphasized that the protest is a strategic means of expressing their grievances and making sure their voices are heard.
They also highlighted their commitment to stability and collaboration with the management, but expressed disappointment at the management’s disregard for the students’ concerns.
“It is by this we write and make this letter open to notify the students and general public of a peaceful protest that will take place on Monday, October 9, 2023 which will be one of the means of displaying our pains and registering our displeasure until our voice is heard.”
The union urged the student body and other entities within the institution to join them in seeking justice for the students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, emphasizing that the Union’s primary duty is to safeguard their legitimate interests.
The union, however, made this disclosure available to the various authorities including Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, the Commissioner of Education, the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the Department of State Service, and the Rector of the institution.
