The Student Union Government of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic emphasized the urgency for Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to intervene in the ongoing protest which encompasses concerns such as the raised acceptance fee for newly admitted students.
The union President, Adelola Hezekiah disclosed this during his address to the protesting students at Panseke, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He expressed that despite the union’s attempts to engage with the management, their requests have been met
with refusal.
The management’s stance is that the State Government is no longer providing financial support to the institution, suggesting that any grievances should be directed towards the government rather than the institution itself.
The president urged the students to uphold the spirit of peaceful protest as originally planned.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Bolanle Muritala, also attended the protest, staying until its conclusion.
He pledged continued solidarity with the students and urged them not to block the road, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic for the sake of others’ rights.
The protest concluded at 3:00 PM, with a call for all students to assemble at the school gate by 7:00 AM tomorrow, from where they will proceed to Oke-Mosan.
