The Ogun State Government has decided to put a hold on the acceptance fee payment for recently admitted students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
This decision was made known after a meeting between the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the institution’s rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, and twelve student representatives, on Tuesday.
The President of the Students Union Government, Babatunde Hezekiah, emphasized their dedication to representing the students’ interests and ensuring their voices are respected.
He made it clear that their main goal is to protect the students’ welfare.
The institution’s rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji has also agreed to issue an official memo formalizing the acceptance fee suspension.
This move was prompted by the commissioner’s instruction to convene a meeting with student leaders on campus, with the outcomes of the discussion shaping the next steps.
The student representatives have also insisted that no academic penalties be imposed on those who participated in the protest against the acceptance fee.
The commissioner assured the student body that measures would be taken to determine the process of refunding the fee for those who have already paid.
As of the time of filing this report, the acceptance fees for newly admitted students have been temporarily halted.
