The member, representing Isa-Sabon Birni federal constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdulkadir Jelani Danbuga, is dead.
The first-term member of the House, under the All Progressives Congress (APC), tragically passed away at the age of 63 after a brief illness.
The details surrounding the cause of his death and the name of the hospital where he breathed his last remain undisclosed.
Hon. Abdulkadir Jelani Danbuga, who had previously served as the sole administrator of Sabon Birni local government area in Sokoto state, announced to have passed away during a plenary session by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.
A heartfelt letter from Abdullahi Kalambaina, a fellow member from Sokoto, was read aloud.
The letter partly read: “We surely belong to Allah, ano Him, we shall return. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our colleague, Hon. Abdulkadir Jalani Danbuga, who died in the early hours of today, 11th July 2023, after a brief illness in Abuja.
“He was until his death the member representing Isa/Sabon Birni federal constituency of Sokoto state. He will be buried today (Wednesday) in Sokoto according to Islamic rights. May Allah forgive him.”
The Deputy Speaker, in a poignant tribute, reflected: “We just lost one of our colleagues who had recently represented Isa/Sabon Birni federal constituency of Sokoto state. As we mourn him, let us remember what John Donne said in the 15th century in his poem ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls.’
“Each man’s death diminishes me, for I am involved in mankind. Therefore, send not to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.”
Members of the House, particularly those from Sokoto state, expressed deep sorrow at the loss their man.
They emphasized that his passing was not only a loss to his family but also a profound one for the parliament and the entire nation.
The Deputy Speaker urged all members to serve with care and humility, cognizant of the day of reckoning when they will account for their service to the nation.
