A Police Constable, Wale Akinlotan, attached to the Lagos State Police Command collapsed and passed away while on duty at Ilupeju Police Division, on Monday.

Akinlotan, a distinguished Mass Communication graduate from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, had previously served as a media representative for the Lagos Police Public Relations Office before joining the Nigeria Police Force in 2018.

As of the time of filing this report, the precise cause of his untimely demise remains unclear, it is evident that Akinlotan was still recovering from injuries sustained from a suspect’s bite.

It was reported that the deceased helped to capture the culprit who was attempting to escape from police custody.

On October 19, Akinlotan bravely shared a video on Tiktok showcasing his injuries from the event, captioning it with a poignant reflection on the dangers inherent in his line of duty: “Job hazard. The poison of a snake or scorpion is not as deadly as a human bite, thank God for life.”

Akinlotan was laid to rest in a solemn ceremony at a Lagos State cemetery, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to the community he served.
