The chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), MAPOLY Chapter, Adegunle Tomisi, has disclosed that the National ASUP has directed them to participate in the ongoing strike.

He made this known in an interview with Press Club MAPOLY on Sunday.

According to him, the Nigeria Labour Congress declared an indefinite nationwide strike, starting on Monday, June 3, 2024, due to the Federal Government’s refusal to increase the proposed minimum wage above N60,000, and the chapter has been directed to join the strike.

He revealed that the chapter suspended its four-week strike on Friday because of the sake of the students.

He reiterated that the chapter has been summoned to join the strike, and whether or not to go on the strike again is not something he can decide alone.

“We suspended our strike on Friday for the sake of the students, and going on another one is not something I alone can’t decide. Whichever way it goes, we will see how best to help the situation, just to make things work.”
