Chemical, Others Inaugurated as MAPOLY’s 39th SUG

The Student Union Government president-elect, Prosper Oladele, also known as Chemical, along with other elected individuals, has been inaugurated as the 39th executive of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MApoly).

The transition ceremony took place on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Babalakin Hall within the school premises.

Dignitaries present included the Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji; Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Ilewodalu; Director of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Kolawole Amos; Sub-Dean, Arc. Sholanke; and the school’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Yemi Ajibola, among others.

The ceremony began with an opening speech by the Director of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Kolawole Amos, who appreciated the efforts of the incumbent administration and the management for making the transition possible.

Dr. Amos remarked, “I want to thank the Rector for his support, even when we almost lost hope that the election might not be possible. He made it happen, and I thank the staff of the Directorate for their efforts. I remember proposing a motion for a caretaker committee for the students due to the issues we faced, but the Rector rejected it, insisting that there should be a democratically elected representative, which is why we are here today.”

The outgoing President, in his speech, celebrated the success of the transition and highlighted his administration’s achievements.

He said: “It has been a remarkable journey filled with challenges and triumphs. We have strived to create an inclusive and vibrant environment for all students.”

He listed his administration’s achievements, including visits to internal and external publics, social activities, and sporting events.

He also mentioned the distribution of awards to 21 distinguished dignitaries across Ogun State and the renovation of the student union executive secretariat.

The new administration includes Prosper Oladele Idowu (President), Akorede Quadus (Vice President), Falola Oyindamola (General Secretary), Sherif Ajibola (Financial Secretary), Ogunsola Oluwapelumi (PRO), Okoro Christopher (Sports Director), Oguntoye John Olarenwaju (Welfare Director), Egbesola Ajayi John(Social Director) and Alaran Oyinkansola (Treasurer).

The 39th student union president, Prosper Oladele, during his speech, promised to address student challenges and advance the institution.

He said, “I am looking forward to addressing student challenges, taking MAPOLY from terrestrial to celestial, and representing the students uncompromisingly.”

The Rector of the institution, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, in his closing remarks, appreciated the management’s efforts toward the successful transition of power and urged them to move the institution forward.

He also encouraged students to take advantage of the federal government loans, as there has been a low turnout. He explained that the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) has approved additional technical courses, which students will benefit from before graduation. Graduates will receive dual certification.
