A 32-year-old man identified as Lanre Ogungbe has reportedly committed suicide, after lodging in a hotel at Soyoye in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
This tragic event occurred on October 10 at 3:30 PM at the Authentic Hotel.
The hotel owner, Odeyemi Adeboye, reported the incident to the Divisional Police Officer of the Lafenwa station, after being alerted by his manager.
Adeboye stated that the manager raised the alarm about the incident, explaining that the victim checked into the hotel for a short rest around 2:00 PM.
It was reported that , the hotel receptionist, after noticing that the expected customer had not been seen, went to check on him and discovered his lifeless body on the bed.
Subsequently , she immediately alerted the manager, who then informed the hotel owner.
The was equally reported that upon receiving the news of the incident , the police swing into action.
When they arrived at the room where he had lodged, they found Lanre Ogungbe’s body on the bed, alongside an empty bottle of Lakoko alcohol and another bottle of Sniper, which are suspected to have been consumed by him.
According to the report and confirmation from the police, there were no signs of violence found on his body.
His remains has however been taken to the General Hospital in Ijaye, Abeokuta for examination, where he was pronounced dead.
His body was subsequently deposited in the Ijaye Morgue for a post-mortem examination.
The police, however, urged families to stay close to their loved ones to reduce the risk of mental health neglect.
