AMACOS Hosts 2024/25 “Freshmen” Orientation

The Association of Mass Communication Students, AMACOS, in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, has held her freshers’ orientation at the Mass Communication building for new students of 2024/25 academic session.

The orientation, which held yesterday, was organized to welcome and celebrate new intakes of the institution into the association for the year’s academic session.

Speaking at the event, the AMACOS president, Shopeyin Okikiola Adam, popularly known as Kiki, welcomed the freshers to the institution, saying “I can’t wait to see you all accomplish a goals in the institution ”.

Kiki also urged the student to be of good performance in the institution, encouraging them to always listen to their lecturers and obey the rules and regulation of the institution.

After the welcoming speech from AMACOS president, names of the lecturers present at the event were announced, they include; Mass Communication Head Of Department (HOD), Dr. Tejuoso Wasiu , the Director of School of Communication, Information and Technology, SCIT, Dr. Sina Aina, the institution’s Subdean, Dr. Peter Solanke, who represented the Director of Students’ Affairs, Dr David Aninkan. Some lecturers present were; Dr Kolawole Amos, Mrs Hassan and Dr Sola Adeosun.

Giving his speech, Dr. Sina Aina congratulated the students on being admitted into the mass communication department and advised them to be punctual in school, adding that they must have more than 70% of the school attendance or else the students will not be able to write the school examination.

Also, the DSA talked on the school rules and regulation, the mode of dressing, and examination related offense.

He stressed, “if you have been caught in the examination hall doing malpracticim, you will be suspended for four semesters and also pay the school fees for the semesters” adding that more of the institution’s guidelines are in the school handbook.

Addressing the students, Dr Tejuoso, spoke on the total dedication, commitment to be punctual in school.

He also cautioned the students to avoid joining unregister clubs or association in the campus.

Therefore, he pleaded with the students to focus on their main objective in the school premises, avoid unnecessary gathering, abide with the school rule and regulation to avoid some certain penalty.

He also promised to contribute in making the students’ stay on campus memorable, valuable and interesting.
