The Association of Mass Communication Students has hosted her 2025 annual Public speaking competition, having Balogun Jesuferanmi, a Higher National Diploma 1 student, emerge as the winner.
The competition, which held on Wednesday at Mass Communication Main Hall, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, had in attendance Dr Olayiwola Shojomi, rector’s representative, Dr Tejuoso Wasiu, the Head Of Department, Mr Oladipupo Dotun, Mr Daud Olatunji, Editor, Platform Times News, Mr Samuel (Psalmist), a well known writer and poet, Miss Rachael Agoi, a digital content creatoand some of the past AMACOS executives.
The competition, themed “Think It, Speak It”, had thirteen participants who took part in the first round of the section. Unfortunately, nine people were able to get to the second round and finally six people took part in the last round.

The participants were 13 in number, they include Habeeb Opeyemi Rauf, Tumise Deborah, Opamoye Sandra Demilade, Balogun Fauziat Oyindamola, Idowu Gbolahan Faruk, Adedeji Adebayo, Martins Oyinkoyinsola Ojukotimi, Onawale Peace Olamidun , Adedokun Fuad Olamilekan, Badru Nofisat Omolade, Olawale Habideen, and Adekunle Aliyat Ayomide and also welcome the AMACOS Exco’s at the event.
Speaking at the event, the AMACOS president Shopeyin Okikiola Adam (Kiki) greeted the panel of judges, participants and the audience saying “I am here to welcome you all to the AMACOS speaking competition tagged think it, speak it, we gather here to celebrate act of communication, creativity and critical activity ”
Speaking forward he said that the competition showcase their exceptional skills in Articulation of ideals persuading audience and convening messages. His last speech to the participants is “ I encourage you all participants to be of your best ”.
Miss Rachael Agoi and Mr Samuel read out the the criteria for judging which include clarity, confidence, Dressing, Adjustment of tone,voice audibility, articulation and pacing around will be duly observed.
The certificate of participant was given to each of the contestant by some of the AMACOS past executives. Also, Dr Tejuoso out of his generosity gave each participant a free book titled”Giant of History”.
Mr Daud Olatunji, investigative journalist, took over the podium to announce the result of the final participants.
He started with the third runner Obamoye Sandra Demilade,NDI,Mass Communication ,she was presented with another certificate with a sum of #20,000.
The second runner,Nofisat Omolade Banjo,NDI mass communication, was also presented with another certificate with a cash prize of #40,000.
The champion who emerged as the winner was also presented with another certificate with a cash prize of #60,000.
Comr. Wisdom Ogbonna and Idowu Johnson gifts the 4th position 20,000,5th position 10,000,6th position 10,000.
The program ended with all participants taking group pictures.
Idowu Johnson, 2019 SUG PRO now working for The Punch News, Wisdom Ogbonna 2019 AMACOS President, Olakunle Sheriff former AMACOS Gen. Sec, Afolabi Wasiu, the Immediate Past president were also all in attendance.
