The Department of Business Administration stamped their dominance at the Students’ Union Games, SUG, finals, defeating the department of Mass Communication in both the male and female football categories to clinch a historic double.
The highly anticipated showdown, played at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic stadium on Thursday ended in heartbreak for Mass Comm who fell short despite spirited performances in both finals.
In the male final, Bus Admin edged their rivals with a slim but decisive 1–0 victory, thanks to a header that sent their fans into wild celebration. The tightly contested game saw Mass Comm pile on the pressure but fail to convert their chances, leaving Bus Admin to lift the trophy in front of a roaring crowd.
The female final was no less dramatic, as Bus Admin’s ladies overcame a resilient Mass Comm side with a 2–1 scoreline. Both teams displayed grit and flair, but Bus Admin’s sharp finishing proved the difference, sealing their clean sweep of the tournament.
The results sparked jubilation across the department, with students flooding the pitch in celebration, waving flags and chanting victory songs.
For Mass Comm, however, it was a bitter evening, as their hopes of lifting either trophy were dashed by their long-time rivals.
With this victory, Bus Admin not only secure bragging rights on campus but also cement their status as the football powerhouse of this year’s SUG Games.
