
The Department of Mass Communication at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, has once again stamped its dominance on campus leadership as Ademolu Toheeb Olawale, popularly known as Horlagold, emerged as the new Speaker of the Students’ Representative Council, SRC, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Horlagold, a Higher National Diploma, HND, student of Mass Communication, clinched the speakership after an election held on Tuesday.
According to the result by the Students Union Electoral Committee, SUELECO, he won alongside 22 other honorables.
His victory not only signifies personal triumph but also highlights Mass Communication’s growing influence in student politics at MAPOLY, with multiple candidates from the department being an honorable.
The official election results released on September 10 confirmed the dominance, with Kehinde Akinwunmi, Mass Communication, National Diploma, also making the list of elected council members. The outcome reflects a strong show of confidence in the leadership capacity of Mass Communication students, who have consistently played pivotal roles in student governance at the polytechnic.
In a congratulatory message student leaders and supporters across campus also lauded the development, expressing optimism that Horlagold’s tenure would deliver impactful representation, accountability, and progressive reforms for the student body.
