MAPOLY MGT announces new date for Student’s Union Election

… SRC to preside over students matters temporary

Following the recent agitations for the need of students union executives on campus by students union aspirants, the management today, has now fixed May 18th for the union’s election, the Students’ representative council (SRC) Speaker, Hon. Durodola Oluwasegun announced.

This development was revealed in a meeting today attended by the SRC speaker himself, SRC clerk Hon. Muyiwa, the two students union presidential aspirants, The Chairman, Nigeria Association Nigeria Students (NANS) OGUN Axis Comrade Dhrikilah Balogun and the Acting director of students affairs Mr Luke.

It would be recall that a week ago, some students leaders including student’s union aspirants had meeting with the school management over the urgent needs for Student’s union election where they (Students leaders were promised) they would be get back to.

" After meeting with the management last week Friday, they promise to get back to us after academic board meeting held on Monday where deliberation on the election date took place " Comrade Oluwasegun explained to PRESS CLUB MAPOLY

While stating the reasons why May 17th was fixed for the election, he said, " The management said election can’t hold because of students who are on siwes in order not to disenfranchise them, so they concluded on that date because siwes students will be back by then ."

Comrade Oluwasegun also stressed further that body of students representative council (SRC) will immediately assume office and preside over student matters temporary before the new students union executives are elected into power.

Meanwhile, There was rumour that March was earlier fixed for the election to take place, though this was debunked by the SRC speaker few days ago.

The new dates set for the Students Union aspirants Manifesto and Election is now on the 16th and 17th of May respectively.
