MAPOLY Recent Graduate Kidnapped as Abductors Demand ₦30 Million Ransom

A mass communication recent graduate of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Oladipupo Opeyemi, has been kidnapped by kidnappers, sparking concern among students, family members, and the wider academic community.

The victim’s father, Mr. Olajide Oladipupo Nathaniel, confirmed the incident in a message sent to the victim’s classmates via Whatsapp.

Oladipo revealed that the kidnappers contacted him on Wednesday night using an unfamiliar phone number. During the call, his daughter was briefly allowed to speak with him and reportedly sounded calm.

Furthermore, it’s was gathered that the abductors took over the conversation and demanded a ₦30 million ransom, giving the family 48 hours to raise the amount.

Olajide said he explained to the kidnappers that he is a carpenter and lacked the capacity to raise such a sum, after which the call was abruptly terminated.

In his words, security agencies, including the Army and the Department of State Services (DSS), have since been notified and investigations have be going.

Opeyemi is a recent graduate from the institution who signed out last year.

Speaking with the her Head of Class, Olamide Adeboye, he said efforts have been ongoing within the classroom as they’re soliciting funds to help the family.

The 202/4/25 Association of Mass Communication Students, AMACOS president, Okikiola Adams also said efforts are ongoing within the department.

Adams said, “the HOD(Head of Department) is aware and the last time we heard from them was when they they declared the ₦30M ransom.”

While efforts by security operatives continue, friends and well-wishers of the family have begun mobilising financial support, as prayers and appeals for divine intervention continue.

Also Olajide expressed appreciation to Opeyemi’s course mates and members of the public for their solidarity and prayers, describing the support as a source of strength in a trying time.

He also appealed to Nigerians to remember his daughter in their prayers as the family remains hopeful for her safe return.
