Students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) were stranded on Monday morning at major bus stops due to an insufficient supply of commercial buses, disrupting movement to the campus during peak lecture hours.
Observations by the MAPOLY Press Club at Panseke Motor Park revealed that although commercial buses were operating, they arrived in very limited numbers and at long intervals.
In several instances, only one or two buses arrived at a time, leaving many students waiting for extended periods.
Furthermore, As of 8:00 a.m., when lectures had already commenced, the Press Club observed large numbers of students still gathered at the bus stops.
Long queues were seen beneath the pedestrian bridge at Panseke and along adjoining roads, with students visibly anxious about missing lectures, tests, and attendance requirements.
Similar conditions were observed at Iyana-Oluwo bus stop, another major loading point for MAPOLY routes, where students reported experiencing comparable delays.
Many described the situation as a recurring challenge on days with scheduled lectures.
The incident once again highlights the persistent transportation challenges faced by MAPOLY students who depend on public transport to access the campus. Students have called for improved coordination between transport unions and relevant authorities to ease the daily pressure during peak academic hours.
As of the time of filing this report, there had been no official response from transport unions or the management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic regarding the situation at Panseke and Iyana-Oluwo.
