AMACOS 2013 Set Donates 16-Channel Console to Boost MAPOLY Radio

The 2013 set of the Association of Mass Communication Students (AMACOS) has donated a 16-channel audio console to MAPOLY Radio 99.7FM of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), as part of efforts to support the institution and enhance broadcast training for students.

The equipment was formally presented at the Rector’s Office, where it was received by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Arc. Dr. ‘Koye Jolaoso, alongside other principal officers of the institution.

Also present at the presentation were the Head of Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Wasiu Tejuoso, and the General Manager of MAPOLY Radio, Deacon Kunle Oluwusi.

The alumni delegation was led by the Chairman of the 2013 set, Abímbola Sobajo, accompanied by the set’s AMACOS President, Michael Ogunsiji, and the former Students’ Union Government (SUG) President of the set, Mallam Abdulgafar Adeleye, among other members.

Speaking during the presentation, Sobajo said the donation was part of the set’s commitment to give back to the institution that shaped their academic and professional journey.

According to him, the alumni decided to donate the 16-channel audio console after identifying some of the needs of the institution’s radio station.

He explained that the equipment would help improve the station’s audio output, enhance broadcast production quality, and provide practical training opportunities for both current and prospective students of the department.

Sobajo, who currently works with Ogun State Television (OGTV), added that the gesture was not a one-time effort, noting that the set had earlier pledged the donation during their 12-year reunion held in December 2025.

Also speaking, Ogunsiji, who serves as Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), commended the Rector for what he described as the remarkable transformation taking place in the institution since he assumed office.

He said the development reflects a growing synergy between the institution and its alumni community.

In his remarks, Abdulgafar Adeleye acknowledged the contributions of the lecturers in the Mass Communication Department, including the Head of Department, Dr. Wasiu Tejuoso, for their role in shaping the graduates into professionals.

He further noted that the image of the institution had improved significantly under the current leadership, adding that many alumni who once distanced themselves from the school were now proud to be associated with it.

The General Manager of MAPOLY Radio, Deacon Kunle Oluwusi, expressed appreciation to the alumni for the donation, stating that he had consistently been encouraging graduates of the department to contribute to the development of the campus radio station.

Responding, the Rector, Arc. Dr. ‘Koye Jolaoso, expressed gratitude to the 2013 set for the gesture, describing the donation as timely and commendable.

He urged other alumni of the institution to emulate the initiative by supporting the development of the Polytechnic.

Jolaoso added that the institution would continue to welcome collaborative efforts from alumni to further strengthen MAPOLY’s growth and reputation.
