Several reports received by Press Club MAPOLY have shown that students of the institution on daily basis, lose their valuables while boarding busses to school.
Valuables ranging from mobile phones, money, necklaces, bracelets, ear rings, documents, even bags amongst many others have been overtime reported missing.
Due to bus scarcity and fear of missing first lectures, students slugger it out at bus stops to board vehicles.
Students have also missed lectures and tests due to the persistent scarcity of bus to convey them to school.
PCM gathered that most of the reports were from the queues of the MAPOLY red bus popularly called ‘economy’.
Our reporter gathered that the queues were initially maintained till the bus conductors decide to take people in on preference thereby disrupting the already maintained queues.
When one of the conductors was inquired on the disorganization of queues, he retorted ‘students like it that way’.
One of the reports received by PCM recently was of a student who lost all his registration documents while struggling to board the ‘economy’.
Another was of a female student who lost her purse containing money, phone, ID cards and make up kits.
The purse was said to have dropped and allegedly picked from the ground by a woman who was nowhere to be found when the student discovered that her purse as gone missing.
Bisi, a management student while speaking with our reporter expressed in anger that some people are on the queue with the aim of stealing.
"Some people don’t come here to enter bus, they just come to snatch bags and anything the can. This conductors to are not helping matters.
"When they come, they will just say that only those with #30 change should come. They say that if you don’t have change, don’t come near the bus. Then everybody will just gather anyhow at the door".
Meanwhile, the theft report is not only limited to ‘economy’ queues as some of the students that gather to board the shuttle busses and cabs also complain of missing items.
However, the scarcity of vehicles had been linked to the reduction of shuttle fare from #50 to #40; non-functioning of three out of the five ‘economy’ busses and decision by drivers not to ply the school route due to bad road network.
