As part of effort to curtail indecent dressing within Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, the security unit of the institution has stationed personnels in major areas plied by students; with the sole responsibility of apprehending defaulters.
Press Club MAPOLY observed that the institution had constantly frowned at students who dress indecently, thereby mandating all departments to ‘send back’ students who appear unprofessional to their academic halls.
It is noteworthy to write that the institution disagrees with dresses like; crazy jeans, crop tops, sagging, transparent wears, short trousers and skirts, slippers, chains and rings and many more.
This development had led to the adoption of a departmental dress code with the purpose of promoting the image of the department, profession and the institution at large.
Also large flex print outs are positioned in the five schools of the institution displaying the rules against indecent dressing and actions that would be taken by the school if any defaulters are caught.
On several meetings held between the school management and students, an enfore rule against indecent dressing is begin stressed.
PCM observed that on a daily basis, an average of 10 students who dress indecently are sent back by the security agency.
However, recall that the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Modupe Mujota, as well as the Acting Rector of the institution, Ayodeji Tella, while addressing the students in the matriculation ceremony, had advised students against indecent dressing.
The duo stressed the fact that appropriate dressing speaks better of the student and the institution, with reference to the popular adage "the way you dress, is the way you would be addressed."
