The Press Club, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has won the best Press Organization on Campus for the second year consecutively.
The Press Club, MAPOLY got the award at the Youth Digest Campus Journalism Awards held at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja on Saturday.
The Campus Journalism Awards is organized by the publishers of Youth Digest magazine to celebrate outstanding campus journalists from various tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The organizers shortlisted 30 campus journalists as finalists from the 241 entries received.
Among the 30 finalists, 15 were selected by a panel of judges as winners of different categories after the award.
Also, Oluwatobi Odeyinka, the Associate Editor of The Press Club, MAPOLY won the Opinion writer of the year category of the award.
Two members of the club’s editorial team, Sodiq Ojuroungbe (Editor in Chief) and Efosa Taiwo (Deputy Editor) were among the 30-men finalists.
Meanwhile, the finalists were given VIP treatment in the Federal Capital Territory and celebrated for outstanding performances in Campus journalism.
The Chairman, Image Merchants Promotion Limited and Publisher of Youth Digest magazine, Yushau Shuaib expressed delight for the quality of entries submitted, saying it was difficult for the judges to shortlist the best.
He also opined that the "future of Nigerian journalism is bright with this crop of highly intelligent students ready to take over".
He encouraged the finalists to keep writing and see themselves as winners and relent at writing good articles and reports.
Media Practitioners who have achieved great strides in the field of journalism and Public Relations graced the occasion to celebrate the students.
They include Mukhtar Sirajo, President, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR); Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, winner of the Investigative journalist of the year category of the Wole Soyinka Investigative Journalism Awards.
