The Association of Mass Communication Students (AMACOS), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY),has announced the launch of the HOD’s Cup 2025/2026, a male and female football tournament aimed at promoting sportsmanship, unity, and excellence among students.

The competition, which was initially introduced under a different title, was later renamed HOD’s Cup following the intervention of the Head of Department, Mass Communication, Dr. Wasiu Tejuoso.

Furthermore, while appreciating the honour, Dr. Tejuoso advised the organisers to adopt a name that reflects sustainability and institutional continuity.

The tournament is scheduled to take place at the MAPOLY Field on February 10, 13, and 16, 2026, and is expected to showcase outstanding talents from both male and female teams in a thrilling display of skill, passion, and competitive spirit.

Reacting to the initial naming of the competition in his honour, Dr. Tejuoso expressed gratitude to the association, describing the gesture as thoughtful and deeply appreciated.

“Dear distinguished AMACOS, I woke up this afternoon to see this supposed honour to my personality, and sincerely, I appreciate and thank you for this gesture,” he said.

However, he noted that adopting the title HOD’s Cup would better guarantee the tournament’s longevity.

According to him, the name would allow the competition to transcend individual tenures at both departmental and association levels, ensuring continuity and relevance for future administrations.

Dr. Tejuoso added that the initiative would serve as a lasting legacy within the department, irrespective of changes in leadership.

The tournament is being organised under the leadership of the Hardex-led AMACOS Administration (’26) and is expected to deliver intense matches, memorable moments, and an electrifying atmosphere for players and spectators alike.

Members of the MAPOLY community, football enthusiasts, and students have been urged to turn out in large numbers to support their teams and witness the excitement of the HOD’s Cup.
