Consider Hardship, Portal Constraints, SUG Pleads With Management To Reopen School Fees Payment Window

— One day to exam, MAPOLY shuts out students without fees

With less than 24 hours to the commencement of examinations, the Students’ Union Government, SUG, of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, has called on the school management to urgently reopen the school fees payment portal to prevent students from missing out.

In a press statement signed by the Union President, Comrade Ogunlana Isaac Oluwajuwonlo, popularly known as Icecon Ray, the SUG expressed deep concern over the continued closure of the payment portal despite ongoing financial and academic challenges affecting many students.

“It is unjust to penalize students who only recently accessed their results and discovered carryovers requiring them to pay for an additional academic session,” the president stated, adding that “these delays were not caused by the students themselves, and it is only fair that they are given time to rectify their academic standing.”

The Union highlighted the harsh economic realities facing many students, noting that financial constraints and unforeseen circumstances had made it difficult for some to meet payment deadlines.

According to the statement, these students have shown sincere efforts and willingness to pay, but the sudden closure of the portal has put their academic future in limbo.

“Education is meant to build lives, not break spirits,” Icecon Ray added. “We are pleading with the school management to act with empathy and reopen the portal, especially for final-year students whose futures hang in the balance,” it stated.

The SUG therefore warned that failure to act swiftly could lead to a breakdown of trust between students and the school administration, while also demoralizing the student body.

“We remain hopeful that the management will respond with urgency, fairness, and compassion. The welfare of the students must remain a top priority,” the statement concluded.
