After six months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has reopened for academic activities on Monday.
MAPOLY followed the state’s Government’s directives on resumption of schools in the state.
Upon resumption on Monday, the management enforced the policy of no mask no entry into the campus.
Also, in line with the Federal and State Government directives to ensure COVID-19 protocols are observed on campus, hand washing machine was also made available at the entrance of the school gate.
Some of the students on campus who spoke with Press Club MAPOLY reporters lamented they were not fully prepared for resumption.
Speaking with PCM, Kabiru Olatilewa, an ND1 student of Architecture expressed joy for the resumption of academic activities on campus.
Olatilewa urged his colleagues who are yet to resume to do so and ensure proper use of their face mask.
He said: ” There is no change as regards the looks of the school buildings. It still the same as we left them back in March.”
Olatilewa added that some COVID-19 preventive gadgets have been installed at strategic places on campus.
He further stated that as at the time he was in school, there was no wash hand basin or sanitizer in his classroom.
Also, he said the split in the lecture time has not been implemented adding that the population of students on campus is still very low.
Boluwatife Sanni, an ND1 Mass Communication Student laments the resumption came rather too sudden.
Boluwatife complained that the resumption date didn’t give her enough time to prepare well ahead.
“Am not happy because there is no money we did not prepare”.She said
Roqeeb Adeleke, an HND1 student of Mechanical Engineering also expressed mixed feelings towards the resumption of academic activities on campus.
Adeleke stated the resumption came as a surprise to him. He also lamented that he is not financially ready for resumption.
” Although it’s actually cool to be back to school, I wasn’t happy because it came as a surprise to me and I wasn’t financially ready.”
Another student of Mass Communication identified as Jonathan said he was really worried when he heard of the resumption date.
“I was so worried when I heard of the resumption because I didn’t plan for it,” he said
Michael Fasesin, an ND1 student of Electrical Engineering said: “I was not happy resuming back to school due to the financial issues am facing”
