…as FG,Ogun govt orders closure of schools

There are strong indications that the academic activities and matriculation ceremony of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic slated for next week may be put on hold.
This is as a result of the order issued by the federal government and the Ogun State government that schools be closed due to the coronavirus(COVID-19)outbreak in the country.
The federal government on Thursday ordered that all tertiary institutions, secondary and primary Schools be closed in the country with immediate effect.
This according to the FG is part of the measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in the country.
Similarly,the Ogun state government in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary,Kunle Somorin on Thursday ordered that all schools in the state should also be closed indefinitely.
The state government who had earlier ban gathering of over 50 people disclosed that the ban also affects all schools in the state both public and private.
“Due to the global spread of the Corona virus and the recent ban of all high-density gatherings in Ogun State, the State Government wishes to clarify that the ban on high-density gatherings affects all schools, whether they are public or private-owned, as well as all religious activities in the State.
“Consequently,all schools in the State will remain closed indefinitely after school hours on Friday, March, 20th, 2020.
“Also,all religious centres and activities including regular and special services that bring together fifty (50) or more persons in the same place are banned with immediate effect.
“These measures will be reviewed at regular intervals in response to the development surrounding the Corona virus disease.”the statement says
Recently,the Head Public Relations and Protocol of Mapoly, Mr. Yemi Ajibola said the matriculation ceremony has not been postponed.
Ajibola said the proposed date for the matriculation still remains March 25th, calling on the students not to believe the rumor been circulated around that the matriculation has been shifted.
Meanwhile, a source close to the management told Press Club Mapoly that the institution is affected by the order.
This means that the polytechnic will be obeying the order by the federal and state government to close the school anytime soon.Academic activities and matriculation ceremony will likely be put on hold.
However,with the recent developments,the management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic is yet to issue any release concerning the closure.
