The Management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has said that it is unsure of when the second-semester examination will continue.
This is in reaction to the latest release by ASUP where the association lamented the safety of its members in light of recent activities on campus.
It will be recalled that the students took to the school gate to protest the outrageous increase in miscellaneous fees and the introduction of the N20,000 registration fees.
According to the school’s PRO, Yemi Ajibola, if ASUP claims that the safety of their members is not guaranteed due to the protest, then the examination might not hold.
He said, “I have not spoken with him (ASUP Chairman) either, we have not gotten any information from him except what he wrote and speculated among his members and if he says the exam will not hold, they are the ones to supervise the exam so if he gives directive to his members then I don’t know yet. But if he says the security of his members because of that, then the exam will not hold. And I don’t think there’s anything I can do about that except for us to wait. But if I get across to him and I can issue a statement but for now, I cannot say the exam will hold or not unless I discuss or have access to the ASUP chairman.”
ASUP, in a release signed by its on Tuesday, said that it would observe events on campus that the safety of its members is not assured.
It reads, “The Union Exco has been monitoring the events as they unfold but realizes that the submission made by the PRO cannot be relied upon and should be therefore disregarded. This is because the students have continued to lay siege on the campus with no assurance for the safety of our members.”
“Kindly be assured that we shall continue to monitor events as Management and the students resolve their issues.”
Meanwhile, NANS said that the examination has been postponed to give the students enough time to prepare for the exam.
It states,” As much as we’re leaving the street, for now, it’s imperative to give our students enough time to prepare for exams while we explore other avenues to achieve our objectives.”
“By this release, all students are hereby directed to start away from the school premises as only the Task Force members are invited”.
